The Danger of Smoking

                   Can you imagine a cigarette company telling its employees they can not smoke their

own products in their businesses. In the article by Stav Ziv “Cigarette Company To Phase Out

Smoking in its offices.” David Howard explains,  Reynolds American Inc a big name tobacco

and its subsidiaries,  will restrict the use tobacco smoking in conference room,elevator and

hallways coming January 1st. Between 2015 to 2016 all their building will have a smoking area

to accommodate both smokers and non-smoker  in these states North Carolina, New Mexico

and Tennessee.He states we certainly respect the right and personal choice of  of employees

who choose to smoke or use tobacco products.But we also respect the of those don’t.Only 20

percent do and that it is the same with visitors and employees.According to the Center for

Disease Control and Prevention 100 percent from smoke free law protects almost half the U.S.

             

                It must seems like a double standard for a maker of cigarette to make such a decision

but  according to Howard  most  people do not smoke. Majority rules.There are people that

works for the tobacco company that do not smoke too.It is amazing that this company is looking

beyond profit and controversy to do something good for the people.The dangers of smoking and

health problem can cause from tobacco smoking is real. Phasing out smoking is the only way to

protect people from the dangers of second smoke, cancer, Triggers(asthma attack),  it ruins

teeth, and it bad for the environment.

                        Living in New York it can be a challenge where you are constantly running into

people that smokes everywhere. Cigarette is sold almost anywhere . From the supermarket, the

corner store, even the gas station, all different brands, size and flavor mint or regular.What

would you do walking down the street with your child and out of no where, someone blows

smoke in you and your  face .Would not  be nice. For that reason we must protect our children

because they can not help themselves.

                 

                    Am from Jamaica people smoke anywhere but when it came close to home.we

realized how serious this real is when it came close to home. I had an uncle by the name of

Herman.He enjoys smoking so much. My uncle use to smoke cigarette so hard, he would

use one to to light another. Watching him die from Lungs cancer was heart breaking.Would

not wish that on my worse enemy.Seeing commercial on Television from time to time

about smoking and Lung cancer.Wish nobody had  go through it but it is not possible.

             Remember most times what we live by is what we die by.Smoking not only harms us

but people around us.Reynolds American Inc know that even though this can not completely

solve the problem it will reduce the risks and we both agree. for example, you smoke and your

friend do not find a place to do it so it won’t bother anyone.Respect each other feelings.Stop

polluting the air.Lets try to minimize contaminating our environment for our children and our

children children's.
